ABSTRACT

The transition from primary sustainable goals to crisis management exemplifies a new era of corporate social responsibility, sustainable business models, corporate sustainability, and stakeholder theory. This study examines the varied dynamics of corporate social responsibilities (CSR) during COVID-19, as well as its potential and limitations, in order to gain a better understanding of CSR. The results expand upon the instrumental version of CSR and the application of stakeholder theory during COVID-19. It reflects on the necessity for a wider integration of societal issues in CSR's driving philosophy as well as the underlying need to study diverse sectors of governance across the globe due to the increased potential for exploitation of the weak, particularly during times of crisis. This study examines the theoretical foundations of the themes and the lines of divergence between CSR's past and present by reviewing the social, intellectual, and conceptual structure of the literature. It emphasizes the importance of post-COVID-19 policies that prioritize job creation by implementing stronger labor market standards. Governments should eliminate barriers and implement pro-SME laws and programs. A sustainable fiscal policy takes future generations into account. Sustainable corporate finance incorporates long-term financial goals and social values into stakeholder theory. © 2023 Wiley Periodicals LLC.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a pandemic that is triggered by a novel coronavirus, named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV-2) or 2019-nCoV, causes primarily respiratory discomfort along with other mild symptoms/no symptoms, leading to severe illness and death, if proper care is not taken. At present, COVID-19 is the resilient reason for a large number of human casualties worldwide as well as a cause of crucial economic loss posturing global threat. There is a necessity of intensive research to elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms of COVID-19, which would assist in understating the susceptibility towards the infection as well as prompt development of effective prevention and treatment strategies. Over the years, clinical studies have indicated the risk of various pathogenic infections prejudiced due to preexisting chronic diseases as well as ABO blood group types to a larger extent. In line of this, current COVID-19 infection-associated clinical studies intensely endorse the relationship of blood group type of individual and risk of COVID-19 infection. In this chapter, various clinical studies from January 2020 to June 2020 have been summarized to highlight the eminence of ABO blood group and COVID-19 infection susceptibility in human population. These reports evidently support the fact that individuals with A histo blood group were found to be more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection whereas individuals with blood group O were less likely to get infected with virus. To get deeper insight in this fact, many more studies are desirable in order to further explicate the promising protective role of the blood group O and it will be supportive for designing and planning several additional countermeasures against COVID-19 infection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2021.

ABSTRACT

Background: Recently emerged COVID-19 pandemic has caused a large number of deaths with lacs of confirmed cases worldwide posturing a grim situation and severe threat to public health. There is an imperative necessity of analyzing emerging clinical and laboratory data of COVID-19 pa-tients, which may contribute to elucidate the pathogenic mechanism and development of effective prevention and treatment countermeasures. Method(s): Under this article, the emerging role of High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) was analyzed by collecting recently published articles related to this field having clinical data of COVID-19 patients. Result(s): Based on the recently published reports of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infected hospitalized patients it was consistently observed that levels of HDL were low at the time of admission to hospi-tal and remained relatively low during the disease course i.e., treatment, recovery, and discharge stage. It was also reported critically that levels of HDL in the patients, those did not survive, decreased continu-ously until death. Conclusion(s): These clinical reports of patients have risen the concern about probable infection and worsen the clinical outcome of a healthy person having a compromised level of HDL for COVID-19 infection. Eventually, these findings stated that there is a strong association of low HDL levels with a higher risk of COVID-19 infection and further severity of the illness. Proper attention is needed to understand the significance of altered quantity and quality of HDL in COVID-19 patients compared to healthy controls, so that appropriate therapies could be given at the right time to combat severity and mortality due to this infection.Copyright © 2021 Bentham Science Publishers.

ABSTRACT

Purpose : The effects of COVID-19 on the retina have been debated since the start of the pandemic. This study aims to assess how COVID-19 may alter retinal microvasculature using wide-field swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (WF SS-OCTA). Methods : This prospective, cross-sectional, observational study included patients with a positive COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test who underwent WF SS-OCTA imaging from August 2020 to November 2021. The mean days from PCR diagnosis to imaging was 175.6. Age-matched controls included healthy eyes and fellow eyes of retinal detachment, retinal tears, retinal artery occlusion, and retinal vein occlusion. Patients with diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, retinal disease, prior retinal surgery, and a positive COVID-19 test >365 days before imaging were excluded. Vessel density (VD) and vessel skeletonized density (VSD) were calculated (Macular Density Algorithm v0.7.3.3, ARI Network) for the superficial capillary plexus (SCP), deep capillary plexus (DCP), and whole retina using 3x3, 6x6, and 12x12 mmscans centered on the fovea. A mixed-effect multivariate multilevel linear regression model was used to identify any difference between controls and COVID-19 groups. Results : 34 eyes of 29 patients with COVID-19 and 54 eyes of 45 controls were included. Generalized reductions in VD and VSD were seen in COVID-19 eyes compared to controls (Fig 1). Controlling for age, COVID-19 was associated with a statistically significant overall reduction in VD in the SCP and whole retina in 3x3 mmand DCP of 6x6 mm scans as well as decreased VSD in the DCP in 6x6 mm scans(Table 1). Looking at changes by region, COVID-19 eyes had significant reductions in superior sectors in VD across all scan sizes and layers except the whole retina in 6x6 mm scans, and in VSD across all scan sizes and layers except the SCP in 3x3 and 6x6 mm scans and whole retina in 6x6 mm scans. Additional region-specific reductions in VD and VSD were seen in the DCP in 6x6 and 12x12 mm scans, whole retina in 12x12 mmscans, and SCP in 12x12 mmscans. Conclusions : Patients with COVID-19 showed reduced VD and VSD compared to controls. This may indicate that there are some retinal microvasculature changes in patients with prior COVID-19 infection. ABSTRACT

Introduction: Due to COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, a lot of countries are under lockdown for more than 30 days. The study is about the physical activity and emotional status of college students and the working sector for 1 month lockdown. Aim: To check the physical and emotional status of college students and in the working sector, while the response is either positive or negative towards the health concern. Method: A web survey was used which is based on IPAQ and PERS scales by 150 candidates. Result: IPAQ show the physical activity perform by the 150 candidates where the maximum candidate was of low activity and PERS shows the positive and negative reactivity of the candidates where the negative reactivity was high than positive reactivity. Conclusion: The low physical activity stimulates the negative reactivity.

ABSTRACT

Identifying the emotional tone behind text or simply opinion mining is in vogue these days and Twitter has been proved as the primary choice when it comes to analyzing the real live data or sentiments of its users regarding anything such as tracking of seismic activities, flu epidemic, automotive industry, academic researches, etc. In today's world, where most of the data is online on social media in an unstructured and scattered form, opinion mining turns out to be a suitable method to understand the public's views and moods. Our paper aims to study the impact of the alleged hacking of the 'Aarogya Setu' application (app) on opinions/sentiments of people towards it using sentimental analysis on twitter data. The key finding of our study is the rise in negative emotions against the Aarogya Setu app after its alleged hacking. © 2020 IEEE.
